About Thornton-le-Dale Show
Thornton-le Dale show is a major promotional event for the local area, intended to stimulate interest in Agriculture, Horticulture, Crafts and Local Traditions. It’s ongoing success relies on volunteers from across the local area.
The show and the wider
community
The Show is run as not-for-profit, and when sufficient surplus funds have been made, the Show is able to benefit the wider community by making donations.
In 2026 the Show donated £10,000 to the Raise The Roof campaign for the renovation of the Alms Houses on Thornton-le-Dale Highstreet.
Other notable donations: In 2002 the Show donated £10,000 enabling the Thornton le Dale Sports Pavilion Association to apply for match funding to build the Pavillion. From it’s completion to present times the Show has spent an additional £12,000 on ground-work draining and leveling the Show field, for the benefit of the Show, the Sports Pavilion, the Football Club and the Cricket Club.
